Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 12 at 6:30pm for Mosaic’s Christmas Party. Everyone is welcome to come, and we’ll have a Mexican-themed potluck and a white elephant gift exchange.
White Elephant Gift Exchange Rules
1. Each player brings one wrapped gift to contribute to a common pool. Remember, this should be something awesome and/or hilarious from your house. No need to spend money on the gift.
2. Players draw numbers to determine what order they will go in.
3. Players sit in a circle or line where they can see the gift pile.
4. The first player selects a gift from the pool and opens it.
5. The following players can choose to either pick an unwrapped gift from the pool or steal a previous player’s gift. Anyone who gets their gift stolen in this way can do the same – choose a new gift or steal from someone else.
6. A gift cannot be immediately stolen back. However, strategy is involved when two or more people from the same home are interested in procuring a specific gift.
7. A gift can only be stolen twice total. The person who steals the gift the second time gets to keep it.
8. After all players have had a turn, the first player gets a chance to put their gift back in the middle and steal any other available gift. Anyone whose gift is stolen may either take the gift in the middle or steal someone else’s gift (as long as the gift is still available). When someone takes the gift in the middle, the gift exchange is over.
